Joy of Chair Yoga

This Chair Yoga session is a slow and gentle, yet deep practice, beneficial not only for older adults, but anyone for whom the yoga mat on the floor is difficult to access. The simple props and variations are ideal for those with limited mobility, those experiencing trauma, and those in recovery. Chair Yoga is for Every Body.

Sylvia's way of teaching engages the Mind with anatomical awareness, the Body with movement and breath, and the Spirit with fun and joy. Part 7, ‘Outdoor Activities in a Chair’, uses creative visualization to bring the natural world to your experience. Enjoy ease and focus while you practice and then enjoy the afterglow for the rest of the day.

About Sylvia

Sylvia Smallman was trained at Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts and went on to study Yoga Therapy both at home in Vancouver, Canada, and in India. She leads classes and provides training in Yoga for Later Life and for those with limited mobility. It is her joy and privilege to share the wisdom of Yoga at a time when it is so needed.
